Your role
You and your partner are to assume the roles of associates at MERIDIAN FOODS.
Your task
MERIDIAN FOODS signed a multi-year supply agreement for packaging materials several years ago. The agreement renews automatically unless cancelled within a set window before each renewal date, a clause buried on one of the later pages.
That window closed last week without anyone noticing, so the agreement has renewed for another full term. Since it was first signed, the supplier's prices have risen well above those of competitors, and the purchasing director has only just realised the company is now committed to them.

PENROSE GROUP is choosing a company to run its warehouse, one of the largest contracts it awards. Three suppliers have submitted bids, and the decision is due next week.
This morning, the purchasing manager who leads the evaluation received tickets to a sold-out sporting event from one of the three bidders, with a friendly note. PENROSE has no written policy on gifts. The purchasing manager has not used the tickets and has come to the finance director to ask what to do.
